Oh, the Sesame seed, also known as white seed, is a staple in the world of bagels. These seed come from a flowering plant mostly naturalized in tropical regions; however, the cultivated type originated in India and is tolerant to drought-like conditions.
It is one of the oldest oilseeds, domesticated well over 3000 years ago. Common in many cuisines for its rich and nutty flavour, you’ll typically find it on buns, loafs, crackers, in Asian cuisine sprinkled on dishes and salads, and yes, coated onto bagels!
